Why join The Empire State Honey Producers Association

Why join Empire State Honey Producers Association, Inc?

1. Education- I have learned so much about local beekeeping in our region. Each year we have a summer picnic and a fall conference that's jam packed with expert guest speakers from our industry. Beekeeping requires on going learning and access to the latest information, ESHPA provides access to guides and current information right on their page for you to continue your learning and improve your beekeeping skills. Topics include overwintering in our region, guides for varroa management, and more. They also offer a scholarship opportunity for students every year, see the form attached below

2. Connection and community- being connected to other local beekeepers who can help in times of need is invaluable to your success. A vast majority of our members are hobbyists and side liners, many of which are happy to share help and advice

3. Dues are extremely reasonable- they start at just $40 per year for hobbyists. That's less than most single beekeeping classes cost and you get so many more educational opportunities

Want to learn how to process beeswax into beautiful gifts from hive like this? We have already started planning our summer picnic and this year's topic is BEESWAX! As you can imagine, I am super excited for this one. If you would like to sign up, please visit feel free to reach out with any questions or visit https://eshpa.org/

A little history here: "ESHPA was originally founded in 1870 as the “New York State Bee-Keepers Association”, with dues of $1 (considered too high by many potential members). Ladies interested in beekeeping could join with just a signature.

Today ESHPA is a 501(c) (5) Federal Tax exempt corporation with a governing board elected by the general membership.

The majority of ESHPA members have less than 50 hives according to a voluntary online survey conducted in 2012."
